Obituary for George Stark | Beverly Ridge Funeral Home 04/08/2026

George Jacob Stark, 76, of Chicago is resting in peace as he left this earth on March 31, 2026, after suffering extended medical issues.

George was born on May 30, 1949, in Chicago to George and Marie Stark, longtime residents of Mt. Greenwood. He graduated from Marist High School in 1967. Initially, he was a valued employee at S&T Provisions on 111th St. that was followed by a career as a building engineer. He took great pride in keeping all mechanisms running efficiently from large building systems to small ones at home.

He was known for his kindness, big generous heart, fierce independence and a quick wit. A lifelong member of the Mt. Greenwood community, George was a friend to neighbors of all ages. He loved storytelling – often bringing to life the many characters he encountered – riding his bike through the neighborhood, volunteering his time and traveling to visit extended family. And he could tell you all the latest information about the Chicago sports teams.

George is survived by his sister Mary (Richard) Flammini of Aurora, CO and sister in law, Pilar San Jose Stark of Winter Garden, FL. He was preceded in death by his brothers Joe and Larry and his sister Sr. Patricia, OP. He was a beloved uncle to Elizabeth (Joe Block) Flammini, Mary Kay (Dean) Lamanna, Laura (Jon) Lawritson and Deanna Flammini and was a great uncle to Isabelle, Grace, Annika, Makenna and Olivia, whose growing accomplishments gave him great joy.

In lieu of flowers, please direct your contributions in his memory to Marist Brothers, 4200 W. 115th St., Chicago, IL 60655 or Chicago Police Department Memorial Fund, 1407 W. Washington Blvd., Chicago, IL 60632.
