How does an idea or community need actually become law? 📜➡️🏛️

Let’s use the example of our bill, the PAAF Act. This federal bill that would help ensure intercountry adoptees have the automatic citizenship that should’ve been theirs upon joining their American families.

Every bill has a journey: language is drafted —> the bill is introduced in Congress → Is reviewed, edited, and passed by its assigned Committee → passed by the House and Senate → sent to the President → signed into law.

While we simplified this process to show the basic steps, there are many factors that determine whether or not a bill makes it over the finish line. Getting our Representatives and Senators to sign on and support the bill is a big part of why advocacy matters! 📣 💪
