September is National Literacy Month, and getting a free Chicago Public Librarycard is the best way to celebrate. Whether you have a baby or a preschooler, your card opens the door to awesome perks across the entire city, such as:
📚Endless Books: Swap out picture books every single week to keep bedtime stories exciting and boost your child’s vocabulary for free.
📚Local Storytimes: Join free baby lap-sit story times, toddler music sessions, and bilingual story hours at branches across all 77 Chicago neighborhoods.
📚Free Museum Passes: Snag free family passes to top Chicago spots like the Shedd Aquarium, the Field Museum, and the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum!

🎒Is your child turning 5 in 2027? If they turn 5 on or before September 1, 2027, it’s time to start planning for Chicago Public Schools (CPS) Kindergarten for the 2027–2028 school year!
Here is everything parents need to know:
🏠Guaranteed Neighborhood Spot: Every Chicago child is guaranteed a seat at their designated neighborhood school (no application required).
📝The GoCPS Application: If you want to explore Choice Schools, Magnet Programs, or Selective Enrollment/Gifted Schools, you must apply through GoCPS.
⏰Application Deadline: The GoCPS application closes November 13 at 5 PM.
