Someone recently told me they could no longer support my music after learning I spent 12 years in the Army.
I respect their right to feel that way.
But it reminded me how easy it is to judge someone’s past through the lens of the present.
I joined at 17.
Not because I had all the answers.
Because I was trying to survive, help my family, and build a future.
The older I get, the more I believe people are rarely just one thing.
We’re all carrying chapters others never had to live through.
And maybe understanding that is where compassion begins.
