Today's era is very challenging for the working class and the entire humanity. May Day, dedicated to the Chicago Martyrs of 1886, is regarded as a unique international symbol of the struggle for equality, justice, and self-respect, rising above religion, race, gender, and nationality. It is a day that we remember the sacrifices of men and women who gave their lives so that we can have safe work conditions and fair pay for a fair day's work.

While many were injured during the protests, some organizers were executed, imprisoned for life, the work continued with women like Lucy Parsons, who set up the Chicago Women's Working Union with her friend Lizzie Swank. As another slain Chicago activist, Fred Hampton, said, " You can kill the revolutionary, but you can not kill the revolution.
