Grinding metallic hardcore chaos from Chicago. https://nequient.bandcamp.com/ NEQUIENT is a four-piece metallic hardcore band from Chicago.

Building on a foundation of thrashing d-beat, they draw influences from a broad spectrum of aggressive styles including grindcore, crust, sludge, death metal, black metal, and noise rock. The result is a uniquely punishing sound that emphasizes percussive intensity and razor-sharp hooks. All booking inquiries: [email protected]

Our set from Mickey's Tavern in Madison as filmed by Chino Koki (cover photo by Rich Homan). We had a great time this past weekend playing and hanging with the dudes in Corridoré. Thanks to all who made those shows possible. Looking forward to seeing more friends when we get back on the road in July.

For Thursday, June 11, we helped assemble an eclectic little showcase at Illuminated Brew Works. If you like our rhythm section, you should not miss this: Chris will play THREE sets, performing with us, his trad metal project Heroine Sentinel, and the hardest working man in Chicago rock Ricky Liontones. Aaron will do double-duty by crushing with his sludge outfit, Arbogast (plus our friend Mike, who has kindly helped us out with photos and video on multiple occasions, is playing with both Arbogast and his prog/fusion group Sons of Ra). Jason and Patrick will play one short set and then sit back and drink beers. And you're welcome to join us!

DEVOURING THE AGONIZING
American Grind/Hardcore collective, Nequient, released their third album, "Avarice" through Nefarious Industries. The record's panoramic sleeve artwork (see it on this post) was hand-painted by Arifullah Ali, who has collaborated with several underground bands in recent times.

"The cover captures the album’s pervading horror with an expressionistic vision of a giant worm constricting and devouring an agonized victim," comments Nequient's vocalist, Jason Kolkey. He says that for Arifullah Ali's main focus was "to visualize the intensity and the violent nature of the band's sound.”

Happy May Day/Bandcamp Friday! Thanks to everyone who listened to, bought, and/or reviewed AVARICE in the first week of release. We really appreciate it! If you haven't grabbed a copy, now is a great time to do it.

We'll be announcing our full tour itinerary for the summer shortly, but in the meantime, we have a classic weeknight DIY banger coming up on May 27 at the Lowdown with our pals from Atlanta, Malevich, plus MENSA and iwishyoucameback.
