A brand new pedestrian plaza is coming to Andersonville this summer!

The Elise Malary Plaza on Catalpa Ave is moving forward, with construction expected to begin in June. This new car-free gathering space in the heart of the neighborhood is exactly the kind of investment that makes Andersonville such a special place to live, work, and build community.

Named in honor of Elise Malary—a Black trans woman, community leader, and advocate for inclusivity—the plaza serves as a reminder of the values that help make Andersonville welcoming and vibrant. As we celebrate Pride Month, it's a meaningful opportunity to reflect on the progress that's been made and the work that remains in creating communities where everyone feels seen, supported, and safe.

One of my favorite signs that summer is here in Andersonville is the return of the Farmers Market!

Every Wednesday through October 21st, Winona Street (at Clark) comes alive with fresh produce, local vendors, and familiar faces. It is the kind of thing that makes this neighborhood more than just a place to live. It is a community. Events like this are a big reason people fall in love with Andersonville and never want to leave.
