Let’s be real. A pharmacy closing doesn’t sound like a big deal until you’re 76 years old, recovering from a lung transplant, and the only place you could walk to just shut its doors for good.

That happened in Chatham today. And it’s not the first time the South Side has watched a Walgreens pack up and leave. Bronzeville. South Shore. South Chicago. Now Chatham. One alderman showed up today and said enough. His plan would put city-run pharmacies in all 77 Chicago neighborhoods.
