We walked past a really cool ping pong lounge in Chicago and naturally, my best friend was talking s**t. So we had to settle things on the table.

Asked her if she was making music. She said yeah, no hesitation. Baby girl knew before any of us did. 🥹 I miss her being this little! I blinked and my baby grew up.

A folk singer had her voice cloned by AI.

Then someone used a distributor’s Content ID access to file copyright claims against her own YouTube videos.

This isn’t a future problem.

In this video I break down exactly what happened, why the platforms let it happen, and the one thing most independent artists have never heard of that would have protected her.

It’s called an ACR database. Follow for the next video. I’m breaking down how to actually register your music.

What happens when the platforms that are supposed to distribute your music become the reason you can’t protect it?

Someone stole my music, put it on streaming, and monetized it. I kept it off streaming on purpose. Didn’t matter.

This video is my attempt to make sense of the AI slop crisis and why indie artists are the most exposed.

Has this happened to you? Let me know in the comments. 👇🏽

She said finger strum it. I said should I grab a different guitar? Now i need 4 guitars at the release show. 😂

Welp. YouTube just said “nah” to Billboard and walked out. 👀 What does this mean for your artists’ chart runs? Let’s talk about it. 🎵

What do y’all think? Can you hear a difference? 🎧 🎸
