Blood donation is highly advertised while the importance of organ and bone marrow donation goes relatively unpublicized and unnoticed. We want to be able to reverse this trend, especially among health care professionals, as we should be able to discuss any of these topics with the general population. As of October 2011, over 110,000 people are on the waiting list for an organ transplant in the US. Donate Life America is a nonprofit alliance of national organizations dedicated to educating the public about organ, eye, and tissue donation in order to save the lives of those in desperate need of an organ transplant. Be The Match provides marrow transplants to patients with leukemia, lymphoma and other diseases. The nonprofit organization matches patients with donors, educates health care professionals, and conducts research so more lives can be saved.
