Three young Black creatives walked into our program with potentialā¦today, theyāre building careers, leading communities, and rewriting what opportunity looks like for the next generation.
Our team didn't just pop up with media skills & leadership ...
BKP is the result of intentional investment, guidance, and opportunity.
It started with one videographer believing that youth donāt just need boring, repetitive programsā¦they need opportunity, mentorship, skillsets, and a platform to tell their own stories.
Through our Urban Digital Storytellers program, Deshawn, Taylor, and Harold all started as young creatives learning the power of media and storytelling. Today, they are evidence of what happens when we invest in our youth.
Harold just graduated college and is building his own production company.
Deshawn has stepped into leadership at BKP while continuing to pursue his culinary arts degree.
Taylor has joined the military and is continuing her college education.
At BKP, we believe digital storytelling is more than content creation.
Itās youth development.
Itās violence prevention.
Itās economic empowerment.
Itās narrative change.
And when young people are given the tools to tell their own stories, they donāt just change their futureā¦they help change the future of their community.

Harold came to BKP as an intern with a choice to make:
Buy a PlayStation or buy a camera.
He chose the camera.
Now heās graduated from the University of Illinois Springfield with a College Honors Degree in Computer Science, launched his own video production company, served his college through media, and landed his first client with a statewide nonprofit organization.
Heās raising support to purchase equipment and keep growing as a storyteller.

Iām a documentary filmmaker from the South Side of Chicago, and my team of Black filmmakers and creatives at BKP Productions is looking for the right documentary film project on the continent of Africa.
In December 2023, I traveled to Cape Town, South Africa by myself. That experience expanded my vision...not just for storytelling, but for what it could look like to take my team beyond the U.S. to document stories that deserve to be preserved, honored, and shared globally.
Now, Iām excited to create that opportunity for my team.
Weāre looking to partner with organizations, nonprofits, foundations, cultural institutions, ministries, businesses, or community leaders who are doing meaningful work across the African continent and need a documentary team that understands story, culture, purpose, and impact.

I started like a lot of creatives in Chicagoā¦
Shooting music videos, learning on YouTube University, and just figuring it out as I went...
But the vision kept growing.
From videographer to filmmaker.
From filmmaker to director.
From director to producer.
And now BKP Productions is growing into a storytelling company focused on purpose, legacy, and impact.
Grateful for the growth. Grateful for the team. Grateful for the stories we get to tell.
This is only the beginning.
