We can’t protect young people from threats they aren’t taught to recognize.

Conversations about online exploitation and human trafficking can feel difficult or uncomfortable, but avoiding these topics doesn’t make the risks go away. Young people deserve age-appropriate information that helps them understand potential dangers, recognize warning signs, and know where to turn for help.

That’s why Our Rescue partnered with the Chicago Area Project to bring online safety and human trafficking prevention education to more than 40 students.

The training went beyond a presentation. Students participated in discussions, quizzes, and interactive activities, including testing Level Ready Quest, Our Rescue’s online safety games. The conversations continued at home, with parents sharing that their children were talking about online safety and prompting them to rethink how they approach internet and gaming safety.

Their feedback even helped shape the games before they were finalized.

This is what prevention can look like when we don’t shy away from difficult conversations and instead give young people the knowledge and tools to navigate them.

Today I am very proud to welcome my granddaughter Madison as a college intern with the Chicago Area Project!
A very talented oboist, she played 4 years with the Naperville Youth Symphony Orchestra (NYSO), and in a number of live theater “pit orchestras” in the chicago area before heading off to Eastman School of Music! Notable in itself, BUT-there’s more!
Madi becomes part of the FOURTH GENERATION of our family to have worked with CAP! Starting with my dad (Moose) in CAP’s infancy in the 1930’s, thru my brother Tim and I, my son Jimmy who now runs DuCAP and my daughter Kris here at CAP!
