We have had some awesome small dog adoptions recently, but don't look over the big dogs! Hunky is a new guy and is currently adoptable at our PetSmart Everyday Adoption Center. He's about 70lbs and loves to lean his whole body on you. He also loves to 'hug' and look at you in the most adoring way!

Both of our Adoption Centers are open on this gorgeous Friday until 7pm! Come by and see if you find a match :)

Cici and Blacktop have been waiting for their forever home for more than four months - can you help us find their home??

These adorable little ladies are a bonded Shih Tzu/Yorkie pair, around 10 years old, and together weigh just 7-8 pounds each. They're the definition of low-maintenance companions. They enjoy a stroll around Wicker Park, but most days they're perfectly content lounging in the backyard, soaking up the sun on the deck, or snoozing away the afternoon tucked under a couch or desk.

Their journey with us began in 2023 when they entered foster care after their original owner was no longer able to care for them. They found a foster home after Cici underwent surgery on her leg and was adopted after her recovery. Sadly, they returned to OTAT three years later when their adopter fell on hard times. Since then, Cici has had another surgery to correct her luxating patella and is recovering beautifully. We are so grateful to our friends at 15/10 Foundation who sponsored Cici's care back in 2023 and then again this year! Thanks to their support, Cici is bearing weight on her leg again and is finally comfortable after years of pain.

Cici & Blacktop girls have so much love left to give and deserve the happy ending they've been waiting for. Their foster family absolutely adores them and has hundreds of photos to prove it! They are a big hit in the Wicker Park neighborhood and make friends wherever they go. :)

If you know someone looking for a sweet, easygoing senior pair, please send them our way. We'd love to tell you more about these special girls. Let's find Cici and Blacktop the forever home they deserve - their adoption fee is also sponsored! 🎉

Meet Chicken Nugget and Chicken Tender. These two along with Bonita and Chiquillo (in comments), came to us from a heartbreaking situation. They were part of a group of 12 dogs living in the same home and were surrendered to Chicago Animal Care and Control after their family was evicted.

While we don't know exactly which dogs were involved, there was very little management in the home, and all of the dogs were fed together, which sometimes led to resource guarding and fights. The four dogs we rescued arrived with healing bite wounds, suggesting they may have been victims of those incidents.

Despite everything they've been through, they're now safe, receiving the care they need, and getting a chance to learn what stability, comfort, and love feel like. Chicken Nugget and Chicken Tender are now adoptable at our PetSmart Everyday Adoption Center, come by to meet them!

Meet a few dogs that became OTAT kids last week: Sammy, Shimmer, Sunny, and Splenda. They were living in their own filth, outside in the Texas heat with 56 other Shih Tzus. Thankfully, that’s in the past and their future is looking bright. ✨

Today, we’re launching our 11th Annual Sit for Shelter Pets. This fundraiser helps to raise thousands of dollars that goes directly towards helping us to save and care for even more rescue pets.

Please consider joining us!
💙 Make a fundraising page at sit26.funraise.org
💙 Donate to an existing fundraising page or make a general donation
💙 Share this post and any future Sit for Shelter Pets posts to get the word out!

Our goal is $75,000 and we know that with your help, we can get there! Visit sit26.funraise.org to see prizes for fundraisers and tips to get started. Thank you!

Hellooooo handsome!

This absolute hot mess of a senior came into Chicago Animal Care and Control as a stray on June 7th. Thanks to the staff sharing photos and videos of this gentle guy, we found a foster home and he got his rescue ride today!

He has obvious ear and eye infections, bad hips, and desperately needs a groom. We'll be giving him a full workup this week to see what's going on with him and what treatment he may need.

In the meantime this cutie needs a name - what should we call him??
