Adoptable ball of frog: Franki 🐸 the African Bull Frog

The African Bullfrog, also known as the Pixie Frog (a nickname from its scientific name, not its size!), is one of the largest frog species in the world. Franki has been well-socialized as our amphibian ambassador. He is a big, sassy boy with discerning taste, who is mildly tolerant of handling (but he might p*e!) He enjoys burrowing and glaring in the mud.

Please support our friend Vanessa Restrepo who has lost her home in the earthquake that struck Colombia. This was the worst earthquake in decades and has left harrowing destruction and families displaced. Fortunately, her family was untouched but we can’t begin to imagine the daunting task of rebuilding a life.

Vanessa and her mother set up Alas de Colombia, the country’s first butterfly farm to export pupae to butterfly displays around the world. She did this as a cooperative where upwards of 12 families, mostly women, earn a living breeding some of Colombia’s best butterflies.

The fundraiser will support her and her family during what must be confusing and highly stressful times. The funds can be used to help repair the Alas de Colombia office, which was also damaged. These funds will help us keep a sustainable butterfly farm with a unique set of species thriving. And if she meets anyone in dire need, she can use these funds to help them, as she deems fit.
