Archive 04: Land of Contamination

Originally released in 2009 as a handmade loop tape.

Now available in high-resolution digital form.

This version captures the warmth and erosion of the original analog loop, but instead of playing forever, it loops for just over 50 minutes.

We’ve seen this one go for high prices on resale sites. The original object is still special to us, but we wanted to make it available again: for pay-what-you-want.

We might take it down eventually, so if you’re interested, now’s the time.

The Chicago experimental trio’s 2010 LP gets a fresh reissue.

The band’s most acclaimed and popular work marks its fifteenth anniversary with an audio update and fresh vinyl pressing, landing on metallic silver/gold wax with a full-colour lyric sheet and band photo postcard.

A meeting of apocalyptic ambient, hypnotic drone, and suspenseful post-rock, ‘The Crystal World’ also draws on industrial, noise, and extreme metal subgenres including doom, drone, and black metal.

Inspired by J.G. Ballard’s sci-fi book of the same name with a plot revolving around strange cosmic phenomena experienced in the depths of a jungle, Locrian matches cinematic atmospheres crafted through synths, electronics, and electric guitar textures with ritualistic percussion, uncanny vocals, and clattering soundscapes.

Highly recommended by all of us at Norman, this one will appeal to fans of everything from later Coil and Swans to Sunn O))), Nadja, Lustmord, and Yellow Swans.
