After a very long hiatus due to the near-apocalypse, CornerProjects is planning a comeback in 2023. We are organizing exhibitions to be displayed in our parkway space. Don't be shy, please submit your ideas to us, we are open to exhibition proposals bearing in mind that our space is outdoors and all artworks are subjected to the elements of our environment and therefore cannot be precious; printable works or other forms of engagement are preferred. We are in search of artists/writers/historians who wish to publish work (writing/images/video, etc.) on our upcoming website. Special consideration will be given to works that explore the merger of two seemingly disparate dialogues. Message us or email us with your proposal.

The director of CornerProjects wrote a blog for Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) on the section she composed that was published in the book, “Playing with Fire: Paintings by Carlos Almaraz.” This exhibition catalogue was published by LACMA/Prestel to accompany the exhibition by the same name open until December 3 at LACMA. Artist Profile: Hannah Epstein (aka hanski), Toronto, Canada, is a neo-folk media artist working in the bizarre cross-section of experimental game, video, and textile. She has studied philosophy, folklore, and religion, from which she extracts the narrative processes that inform her work. She recently completed her MFA at Carnegie Mellon University.

When she first moved to Toronto in 2010, hanski spent a few years working as a hostess at a swinger's nightclub. These years were considered social research in which the artist observed the swinger's community. In addition to collecting stories, the artist kept earrings lost by women during their drunken nights out. The piece featured in hanski's entry to the Lost/Found Biennial, exists IRL (in real life) as a small hooked rug, holding the earrings until their owners come to claim them.

Artist profile: Scott Hawkins, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Hawkins is an artist (painter/illustrator), philosopher and commentator. A professor of cultural studies, his piece (a diptych) in the Lost/Found Biennial, 2017 is derived from his thoughts and feelings about identity, from exclusion to optimism. Irreverent and quirky, Scott subverts form to make a point, if nothing else because in a world dominated by binaries, he believes in retaining freedom through ambiguity.

Well... the Chicago weather has ravaged the Lost/Found Biennial. But regret not, we will reinstall the projects this weekend (with one addition) and be up all next week during a week of (hopefully) no rain.
