A Ministry of Hope: the St. Rita Parish Emergency Food Pantry After immigration enforcement tactics create fear in migrant communities across Chicago, the Augustinians leading St. Rita of Cascia Parish jump into action....
This November has been relentless. With the SNAP cuts hitting hard, the constant worry of 🧊 oh, and don’t forget the inflation and the holiday rush the pantry has been pushed to its limits. Yet every day, we show up. We stretch our resources, our energy, and our hope to meet the growing needs of our community. It’s a heavy season, but we remain unwavering—because people are counting on us, and we refuse to let them stand alone—-support the movement donate link in bio

They told us to brace for impact!!!!! For November
When we gathered for our team meeting, it wasn’t just another check-in it was a moment of truth. With the SNAP cuts taking effect, we knew our community would feel it deeply. But this isn’t the first time we’ve faced a storm.
We remembered the days of the pandemic when we served 20,000 families in just three months, and that one unforgettable day when we broke records and served 2,000 families in a single distribution. We’ve been here before. We know what resilience looks like.
We’re not a fully funded organization. We’re not fancy. We’re not “cookie cutter.” We’re original. We’re raw. We’re real!!
Our founders philosophy is simple:
“If you want to help, then help. Put your money where your mouth is. Show up.” Fatima Abueid
And we do. Every week.
With sweat, with heart, with unity.
As I stood beside my mom, preaching that same message, I looked around the room and saw strength incredible women standing tall, saying:
“We’re with you. We’re in this together.”
We don’t know how many families will come through our doors in the days ahead,
but we do know this:
We’ll be ready.
We’ll show up.
because that’s who we are.
This is community. This is SANAD
