Handles attached… hybrid mugs assembled. This batch will now get some colored flashing slips before drying. Then onto a bisque kiln, glazing, wadding… and then loading & soda-firing next weekend!

Bottoms trimmed… time to get some handles pulled & attached to actually turn these “hybrids” into mugs!!!

Trimming the bottoms of my latest hybrid mugs. So much easier with a Giffin Grip in my studio to center & hold ‘em in place!

Before the rain… enjoying these catalpa flowers on huge trees in my neighborhood. It’s about time for these “orchid-like” blooms to start falling from the trees. And I fear that today’s predicted storms might just take care of that quickly?! Unfortunately… the aftermath is a big mess of deteriorating floral mush on the streets! But hey, they were pretty for awhile, right?!

For our class flowerpot trades last session, I went with a "purple-on-purple" theme! Stamping & glazing my flowerpots & then finding a very thematically-correct plant to go along with it! You know I live for a good theme!!!

At the end of last session, my SURFACE DECORATION class celebrated with a little "white-elephant-trading-stealing-game" with handmade flowerpots & plants! So much fun to share their work... finished & functioning... for the most part! Some people didn't quite get through the kiln in time for the big trade!!!

So here we have it… the latest crazy flavor from those wacky peeps at OREO!!! Not sure why the cookies are purple?… but the brown sugar pancake flavor was pretty spot on. All of my students seemed to enjoy them in my classes this week!

Textured sides attached… one step closer… thanks to the “groovy” handrollers from MKM Pottery Tools. After that they went back on the wheel for a little shaping & refining!

New in the garden this morning… a “pop” of orange & purple!

We started out with just a few clouds... and I admit, I had low expectations for a beautiful sunrise. I prefer the dramatic clouds over clear skies. But then... as if on cue, the clouds drifted into place and we ended up having a classically beautiful sunrise with shimmering reflections on the lake.
