Driving Career Readiness Through Partnership and Practice
At CSU, Chicago State Career Services is connecting academics to real-world opportunities, helping students build the communication, leadership, and professional skills employers expect.
This past fall:
- 200+ students engaged
- Nearly 40 employer partners connected
These experiences, from career fairs to employer-led programming, are expanding access to internships and career pathways.
We’re proud to partner with companies like United Airlines, whose Summer Associates USA program provides CSU students with meaningful, hands-on experience.

Wrapping up Women’s History Month, we honor non-degreed alumna and Olympian Rosalyn Evette Bryant for her excellence, determination, and groundbreaking achievements in women’s athletics. What began as a college athlete at Chicago State turned into a trailblazer on the world stage. Her dedication and perseverance inspired generations of women to pursue greatness with confidence and courage and still resonates with the CSU community today. We celebrate her legacy and lasting impact on women in sports and beyond.

This Women’s History Month, we honor the life and legacy of the late alumna Karen Yarbrough, a trailblazing leader whose impact on Chicago and Illinois politics will never be forgotten.
Karen Yarbrough devoted decades to public service, breaking barriers and uplifting communities through her leadership, advocacy, and unwavering commitment to equity. From the Chicago City Council to the Illinois General Assembly, and ultimately as Cook County Clerk from 2018 until her passing in 2024, she led with strength, compassion, and purpose. Today, we honor her contributions and celebrate a woman who truly helped shape the political landscape of Illinois.

This week in Women’s History Month, we celebrate women in STEM. Alumna Marnie Boyd has demonstrated extraordinary dedication leaving a lasting impact on STEM education in the Roseland community. For 37 years, Ms. Boyd has led the Chicago State University Pre-Freshman Engineering Program (PREP), earning countless awards and opening doors to create pathways for thousands of underrepresented students of color to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
Through her leadership, mentorship, and unwavering commitment to equity, she has inspired generations of students to see themselves as engineers, innovators, and leaders. Her work has not only transformed individual lives, but has strengthened the future of STEM by ensuring it is more inclusive and representative.
We celebrate Marnie Boyd for her legacy of service, empowerment, and excellence.

This week in Women’s History Month, we celebrate women in STEM. Alumna Jacqueline Stevens is a dedicated chemist, scientist and mentor who is helping shape the next generation of STEM leaders.
Driven by a passion for learning and giving back, Jacqueline joined CSU as a Laboratory Coordinator for the NSF QuBBE program and in 2024 was promoted to Program Coordinator. In this role, she helps guide the planning, management, and implementation of QuBBE initiatives while ensuring the program continues to expand opportunities for students in emerging STEM fields.
Through the QuBBE Quantum Sensing Summer Program, Jacqueline helps introduce students to innovative areas of science they may have never encountered before—opening doors to discovery, confidence, and future careers in STEM.
Her commitment to education, mentorship, and scientific advancement embodies the spirit of Women’s History Month—lifting as she climbs and inspiring the scientists of tomorrow.
