Thank you to Taste of Korea for creating space for the Korean community and businesses to come together, and providing an opportunity for Ajumma Rising to show off our dance skills!

Your Chicago dancing Ajummas/Aunties are also a community group here to support each other through many intersections of identity and phases in life. Sometimes our outings are big, and sometimes small, but anyone identifying as a middle aged woman is welcome to join us! It takes courage to go into new spaces and meet new people.

Wishing a happy Mother’s Day to all the moms, aunties, and sisters! You make this world go round with grace!

Second dance practice on the books for your Chicago Ajummas! Thanks to our co-choreographer Robin Ajumma for getting us Ajummas moving and shaking!

This dance space gives us busy women a space to connect with new friends, move our bodies, and collaborate for our flashmob dances. We will have more practices to come. Please help spread the word! All Ajummas (middle aged women) welcome and no dance experience necessary!

We are never too old to learn new hobbies while staying active! Bonus, if you have a group of friends to join you! Thank you Christine Ajumma for organizing us Ajummas!

This new generation of Asian American Ajummas grew up with little to no representation of ourselves in the arts and media. So we show up to support our local Chicago APIDA arts community and celebrate the Lunar New Year. These Ajummas are leaders, supporters, and rolled up their sleeves to serve food and drinks, decorate, and clean up!
