with Suze // āAlcohol affected my mental health to such an extent that I had chronic anxiety and depression. I struggled to deal with grief and various traumas that I went through and I was unable to moderate successfully.
In April 2022, I decided enough was enough and I had my last drink. It was the best decision I have ever made and life is now totally different. My mental health is worlds away from how it was when I was drinking and Iām a better mum, wife and friend. Iām loving learning more about who I am and growing into the person I was meant to be. Iāll be celebrating 2 years sober on 30th April!ā

with Jonathan // āMy name is Jonathan Mendonca and Iām from Brookfield, CT. My sobriety date is March 3rd, 2019. So Sunday I will be celebrating five years sober by the grace of god. I spent 10 years addicted to opiates, and a year and half on alcohol and co***ne. Iāve been the multiple rehabs and detoxās, arrested over five times, and everything else that comes with addiction. After my last rehab I made it to 12 step meetings, got a sponsor, and WORKED the steps fully and honestly. After loosing many friends to overdose and my younger brother to su***de in 2021, I created getliftedjon.com and where I help people āget liftedā spiritually, mentally, physically. On December 14, 2023 I published āLife On Lifeās Termsā, on Amazon that is my true story from childhood to today. Sharing my experience strength and hope of exactly all the tools and lessons Iāve learned along the way. It went #1 new releases on Amazon and the reviews and testimonies have been phenomenal thus far! I spend my time helping others šā

with Jeff // āMy name is Jeff, Iām 44. I live in Austin, TX. My sobriety date is 9/20/2017.
I grew up in Southern California and started smoking š at 12, drinking at 14, and using āļø at 17. I got my first DUI on Christmas Eve at 18, my second at 24.
I got sober in 2008 for 5 years and relapsed. In 2017 I was fully addicted to fentanyl and co***ne and was in psychosis. My wife was worried and called for an ambulance and the police arrived.
When they came I slammed the door on them, my hand went through the glass. I went to detox, got sober, and started working a program.
I have a loving family and a second chance at life. I want to help people who are or were in my same position. I now coach people online who are trying to improve their lifestyle.ā

with Tania // āMy name is Tania, Iām a recovering co***ne addict. I also suffered many years from anorexia and self harm. I was always a very rebellious and stubborn child. I lost my dad in my early teens and this sunk me into a spiral that would last for approximately 8 years, where I would face rehab multiple times, only to end up relapsing. My wake up call was after a very serious illness (bacterial infection) that spread to my joints and wouldnāt allow me to walk or move. I was told if I used any kind of substance my body wouldnāt be able to handle it properly. Ever since then Iāve been trying to keep strong one day a time.

April is Alcohol Awareness Month, a crucial time dedicated to educating the public about the impact of alcohol use disorder and promoting ways to support recovery. Here are ways you can support the cause and resources for those seeking help:
Ā Ā Ā Ā ā
Educate Yourself and Share Knowledge: Utilize reputable sources to learn about alcohol addiction, its signs, and effects. Websites like the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) offer valuable information.
Ā Ā Ā Ā ā
Support Organizations: Many organizations are dedicated to helping individuals with alcohol use disorders. Consider supporting groups such as the Herren Project, Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), or SMART Recovery through donations or by volunteering. Your contribution can make a significant impact on their ability to provide services.
Ā Ā Ā Ā ā
Offer a Listening Ear: If you know someone struggling with alcohol use, offer your support. Sometimes, having someone to talk to can make a big difference. Ensure they know about resources like the SAMHSA National Helpline (1-800-662-HELP), a confidential, free, 24/7, 365-day-a-year service offering information to individuals and families facing mental and/or substance use disorders.
Ā Ā Ā Ā ā
Promote Sobriety and Recovery: Use social media to share positive messages about sobriety and recovery.
By taking these steps and utilizing available resources, we can all contribute to a supportive environment this Alcohol Awareness Month. Together, we can help illuminate the path to recovery and offer hope to those affected by alcohol use disorder.
