Winter Dance Forever 26’

I’ve really been trying to process how I’ve been feeling since the trip to Amsterdam. To be honest, it’s a lot I’ve dreamed about being at Summer Dance ever since I first saw the competition. I remember watching people like Waydi, Paradox, Angyil, Frankie J, Toyin, Icee & Batalla on this stage & just daydreaming about myself being on the platform. I’ve never felt so secure and so vulnerable in a dance space like this. Being where I’m from these type of opportunities to travel overseas is extremely rare. A lot of people don’t understand that I’ve watched this event for 10 years before being able to make it dream become reality. Transparently, a lot of people may think that my biggest fear is losing, but in all reality, my biggest fear is under performing and not showing my best and pure self when I am in these dance spaces. I don’t take any opportunity for granted because I know it can be taken away in a heartbeat! I thank God for his grace & the gift that he’s given me with to share with the world. I would like to say thank you to for allowing me to infiltrate the space, my BIGGEST GOAL was to hear say “NERO THA PROFESSAAAA”🤣😭 mission accomplished I won’t forget about our conversation either🫡. Thank you to my Uncle for keeping me active & consistently pouring into my life & my dance you’re the greatest truly. & for always taking the time to answer all my silly questions, seeing a vision in what I have to offer & being a driving force as to why I morphed my dance completely. I call myself a movement theorist based on the fact that I do move in theory as far as Jerkin’ being the base of my style and it being able to work in settings like Hip-Hop and House & yeah I don’t think it’s a theory anymore lol.. Thank you to everybody who has shown love to my footage, my dance and just pushing me to keep moving forward. I’m going to make sure that I uphold myself to a standard. Stay Cracked, Stay Ready🤓. Lowkey I’m tripping because I haven’t competed in WOD since I last won, it’s been 6 years. I think this win means a lil more because of the intention of my movement & message I carry. BE YOURSELF* NOBODY IN THIS S**T CAN JUDGE YOU EXCEPT YOU! BE TRUTHFUL* in your movement mean what you say & say what you feel. Win, lose or draw we all have something to share so we should be receptive when another mover is speaking. This thing we do is a gift & it’s a beautiful thing to share the space with you all. As I’ve said before “if we all told the same story, we’d have nothing to talk about.” Share your movement 🤲🏾

Last year I had the pleasure of making it to the semifinals & this year I was able to turn it around & come out with the win. Honestly the dub is cool fo sho but I know I wasn’t performing at the level I know I should be. That’s the biggest frustration even when it comes to winning for me, it’s like I know how my dance should look & what I wanna see out of it. My name & what I represent means a lot to me, I wanna be able to show that in all environments. Moving with complete integrity & intention inside & outside of my dance. All in all I’m just proud that Chicago came out & took 2 catagories(S/O my boy ). The respect for the city is growing & we’re only gonna get better & the scene is only gonna get heavier. But now I gotta go back & clean this s**t up🫡🏰. I’ll see y’all soon✍🏾.

When we first started I didn’t necessarily think we were a group fr, these were just people I loved to dance with. I realized over time how connected we are & how much we love this Dance//Culture to really make us stick. Huge Shoutout to & all of his contributions to the city of Chicago we’re ALL PROUD OF YOU‼️ I’m still on a high from this past weekend because it’s like dawg…. We really won fr OUR FIRST BATTLE? I’m so proud of them & how hard they be training in their art form. The Kastle has done so much & we’re not slowing down, we’re aging seamlessly. Truth be told we made commandos in a day & even though some fell through it’s natural for stuff to not happen accordingly(had to laugh them off during the battles🤣🤣). I know we’re gonna go far because of our Faith in each other & because God got us sheltered for sho🫡. I trust them as much as they trust me on & off the floor. I’m proud of my family & every time we step on the floor we asking one thing… 🏰
