I hope you will all join us to take a moment to reflect about the sacrifices of so many brave Americans in the name of freedom, and please keep the Gold Star families in your prayers. Too many former members of the Military are suffering in our country and services have been decimated. So on this day of remembrance, please also consider a donation to organizations helping Veterans like the Road Home Program at Rush.

Thank you to 23rd Ward Alderman Silvana Tabares for passing her resolution calling for a special hearing focused on victims of violence and the safety of first responders, as well as the 26 co-sponsors and supporting Alderpersons. This hearing will invite Cook County leaders to City Council to provide more insight and transparency on the impacts that protective orders, criminal warrants, and GPS programs are having on public safety - so that leaders across governments can develop a unified plan of action.
Thank you to the incredible survivors and surviving family members who joined to share their stories! We are truly grateful for these efforts, and we know they will save lives.

Today, we celebrate the life of and honor his legacy.
In the clip below, PBS reports that Dr. King was to give a speech- and while he was one of the greatest public speakers in history - he had become nervous at the microphone. The Chicago congregation, led by the legend, Mahalia Jackson, knew just what to do.
Dr. King's humanity also reminds us of his sacrifice - and the continued fight for equality for all.
