When you get to Heaven, God is going to say, “Someone has been waiting for you,” and my heart knows exactly who that is. I imagine soft paws rushing forward, familiar eyes lighting up with the same love that once greeted me at the door. Loving a cat taught me that true devotion never forgets, it only waits. All the love we shared didn’t end here, it simply went ahead of me. Somewhere peaceful and warm, my cat remembers me just as I remember them. And when that moment comes, there will be no more longing, only home.

People said to me, “Go away, filthy cat,” and I’ve seen how those words sink into a small body already tired from surviving. I remember loving a cat who learned to flinch at footsteps, who carried shame they never deserved. Loving a cat taught me how cruelty echoes, and how silence can hurt just as much. I keep hoping one day I will meet someone who says, “I love you, my baby,” and means it with their whole heart. I believe that love still finds its way, even after the world turns its back. When it does, it won’t just change a life—it will heal a heart that never stopped waiting.
