A shout out to U.S. government agency Peace Corps Zambia for its great contributions working throughout Zambia to educate communities on HIV/AIDS through the Grassroot Soccer program!

American Peace Corps Volunteers use soccer to mobilize communities and teach about HIV prevention. The initiative is making a positive impact, fostering HIV education and awareness.

“I like the program and it’s really good. The kids are learning and they talk with their families and friends about what they have learned," said Maureen Kandeeta, a community volunteer in the Mutandalike area in Choma. Maureen worked on the HIV Grassroot Soccer program with a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer, reaching 34 participants in Mutandalike last year.

In 2022, the U.S. invested over $500 million (10 billion kwacha) to combat HIV, tuberculosis, malaria, and vaccine-preventable diseases; improve nutrition, and promote better family planning in Zambia.

It was an honor to attend the 14th Mwape Peer Awards held on 9/16/2023 in New YorkCity. Founded by late Mr. James Mwape and his wife Ruth Mwape. These Awards seek to honor unsung heroes doing remarkable deeds in their various communities and excelling in the respective areas of their expertise. The event was graced by his Excellence Zambian Ambassador to the USA Amb Chibamba Kanyama and his Worship Counselor Chairperson Mr Clement Mwila all the way from Milenge Town Council in Zambia, who also received a Leadership Excellence Award for youth Empowerment through sports.
