Found this one in the archives. One of the my first illustrations. Baseball was a huge part of my youth and early adulthood. I find the potential energy in this image and situation to be immense. Taking the sign, ready to deliver the pitch. The focus and intention in this moment parallels so many moments of life. Cat and mouse. The battle of will and mind. God I love this game.

I have been wanting to create a baseball series for a while now. There’s so much of the game in everyday life. America’s game has so much nuance. And just like life, you’re gonna fail a lot. But if you can win 1 of 3 you’re a goat. The big lesson is… you won’t win anything unless you step into the box and take some cuts.

Hang on to hope. I believe art heals. Art teaches. It’s not always easy but I try let hate pass as soon as it rushes up. But more importantly I never harbor hate. There is no place for it in my garden. It’s toxic but also exhilarating (see drugs). Hate is an amazing motivator but it is also consuming. Love endures. Love is 🎲 🎲
