I want to take a moment to address something that I should've handled properly a long time ago.

Our podcast has been called We Be Watching Films. The phrase comes from a friend who would comment “oh we be watching films huh?” whenever Jeff or I posted about watching niche, independent, or art films. It cracked us up, and we adopted it as a name.

I was always aware that the phrasing is AAVE. When people would point that out, I tried to justify it by explaining the origin of the name instead of actually listening. Regardless of its origin, it's still AAVE, and we are not AA. I shouldn't have tried to rationalize it, and I should've changed it sooner.

If this name ever offended anyone, made anyone uncomfortable, or even just made you cringe, that's on me. I’m sorry for dismissing criticism and for holding onto something I shouldn’t have.

Because of that, we're changing the podcast name to:

We Are Watching Films

This is a temporary name, and we are open to suggestions. If nothing else ends up fitting better, this will be the one we stick with going forward.

I genuinely apologize for being sh*tty about this for as long as I was.
