🐢‘Slow and steady wins the race.’ A lesson told for centuries through Aesop’s fable of the tortoise and the hare — and now captured in our medallion as a reminder of quiet strength and persistence.
The medallion itself is based on an ancient coin from Aegina, which was a Greek island city-state known for its powerful navy and its role as a major maritime and trading power. It was also one of the first Greek states to mint its own coins.

🦚 Emerald neck, jeweled tail, a gift from the Fates — the peacock had forgotten his own beauty.
In Aesop’s classic fable, the peacock envied the nightingale’s song, wishing for a gift that was not his. Hera reminded him: each creature is given its own blessing.
Our Peacock medallion is inspired by this timeless lesson: to honor the gifts that are uniquely yours, without comparison.
The medallion itself is based on an ancient bronze coin from Nicopolis ad Istrum, which is located today in the Veliko Tarnovo region of northern Bulgaria. The city was established by the emperor Trajan (r. AD 98 – 117) in order to celebrate his military successes against the Dacians.
The illustration here is done by Robert Ingpen, from a book of Aesop’s fables retold by ✨
