Walkin' With Colin

Whoa Chicago! Check out this spectacular skyscraper set to reach high above the city! Expected to house 100,000 people and have convenient access to the skies with 100 helicopter parking spots, this is the Illinois Building and at 5,280 feet it would be the first full mile high structure in the world. That's over 3 times taller than the teeny tiny Sears Tower and twice as tall as the Burj Khalifa, the current tallest man made point on the planet!

By now you might be thinking... hold up, it's April 1st, who you foolin' Colin? Well in truth, this project is not currently in the works however it was truly put forth by some guy named Frank Lloyd Wright way back in 1956. I bring it up from time to time talking about the past, present and future of Chicago on my downtown walking tours.

Yesterday I gave my final tour of 2024 which has been a year fortunately full of great walking companions to show and tell about my sweet home, Chicago. I had the sincere pleasure of meeting people from all over the world coming from such far flung places as India, Indonesia and even Indiana! One step at a time we covered a lot of ground, 352.2 miles worth of walking and talking around downtown. Thank-you all for coming along on the journey! ONE SHY OF 50 ***** REVIEWS!

Hey y'all! Hope you're having a sublime summer so far. I sure am thanks to some great company joining me for many a wondrous walk across downtown Chicago. I'm excited to say I've now received very nearly FIFTY 5-STAR REVIEWS on TripAdvisor! Thank-you all so much for walkin' along and leaving such fabulous feedback!

It's hard to believe that it's already April Fool's Eve and you know what that means... winter will be over in 6-8 weeks! I'm not foolin'! Chicago has had snow as late as May 25th!

Nonetheless I've been thinking it's time to come out of hibernation and hit the ground runnin'! Or walkin' anyway.
