Rochambeau
Rochambeau’s handcrafted music stems from the vein of bluegrass, but hits most every genre. With Rochambeau, music always wins!
A little mandolin, a little brewery magic, and a whole lot of Rochambeau. Jake Nelson is ready to make it look easy, and the mandolin is coming in hot.
Catch Jake and the rest of Rochambeau this Friday at North & Maple for a night of bluegrass, Americana and roots music!

Happy “Big” Birthday to the man who keeps the wheels turning and the strings ringing — Goldin Winker. 🎶
Celebrating today in Kentucky the best way possible: bourbon tours, blue skies, beautiful scenery, great company, and a pretty special reunion with the banjo Frank Neat built for Goldin 44 years ago and just brought back to life again.
Manager, banjoist, storyteller, road warrior, and the glue behind so many unforgettable moments — here’s to another year of music, memories, and miles down the road.
Hope your birthday is every bit as legendary as the stories, songs, and friendships you’ve built along the way.

Save the date! Rochambeau will be preforming at the Manteno American Legion’s Hanger on Friday, June 19th! Mark your calendars now & get ready for some fun!
We’ve got some truly exciting news to share—our very own Tracy Okamoto submitted an original song, “Weasel in the Hen House,” to the 2025 Great American Song Contest! Tracy’s amazing tune placed 5th in the “Special” category!
We couldn’t be more proud of this amazing accomplishment. Tracy, your talent, creativity, and musicianship continue to inspire us, and we feel incredibly lucky to have you not only as a bandmate, but as a friend.
This clip is a special throwback—capturing a few of us in rehearsal, working through “Weasel in the Hen House” when we were first introduced to it. It’s been a joy watching this tune come to life! Hope you all can come check it out live at an upcoming gig!

🎶Happy National Banjo Day! 🪕🎶
We’ve got Greg Cahill of Special Consensus teaming up with Goldin Winker and Rochambeau for a little Blue Skies magic—and yes, the banjos are extra happy today.
Warning: watching this may cause sudden toe-tapping, smiling, or an uncontrollable urge to play banjo yourself. Proceed with joy!

Just a typical rehearsal… until it wasn’t!
Rochambeau was just being their typical self - wild & crazy guys - and mid-rehearsal, the door opens and in walks Steve Martin—banjo in hand, like he’s been a member of Rochambeau all along. No intro, no fuss… just jumps right into the tune and starts ripping.
We kept it cool on the outside… but internally? Absolute chaos! He is an absolute icon & a hero of Goldin’s!
Not saying he’s officially joined the band… but we’re also not rushing to correct anyone either!
Happy April Fools’ Day, folks! 😄
New tune in the works! 🌧️🎶
Spring’s doing its thing today — rain, a little hail, and everything in between — so it felt like the perfect time to start working on an original from our own Tracy Okamoto, “There’s Something About The Rain.” This clip captures the very first time we ran through it together in rehearsal.
Like a lot of good tunes, it’s just getting its legs — and we’re excited to see where it goes as we keep shaping it. Something tells us this one’s going to grow into something even more special.
Stay tuned… there’s definitely something about this one.
We’re feeling extra lucky celebrating Rochambeau’s mandolin man, Jake Nelson, whose birthday lands just one day before St. Patrick’s Day. ☘️🎉
Jake may be one of the most chill guys you’ll meet, but the moment he picks up the mandolin, it’s a whole different story. With his high-energy backbeat chop, he brings the rhythmic punch that drives the band, and in this clip he’s tearing it up on an original tune “Kring’s Swing.”
Simply put, Jake is one of the best mandolin players in Chicagoland—and when he’s not lighting up the stage, he’s also a world award-winning brewmaster. Talent, groove, and great beer… yeah, we’d say Rochambeau got pretty lucky to have him as a bandmate. 🍻
Help us wish Jake a happy birthday and enjoy the jam! 🎶🥳
Carolina in the Pines 🌲🎶
Another highlight from Horse Thief Hollow’s 13th Anniversary was getting to play Carolina in the Pines with the legendary, two times Grammy nominee and IBMA award winner, Greg Cahilll of Special Consensus joining Rochambeau on stage. Having a bluegrass icon jump in with us made an already special night even better.
Huge thanks to everyone who packed the room and celebrated with us — the energy was incredible. More memories from this night still to come.
