Project 50 is working to secure abortion rights state-by-state. S.

Project 50 is a national political action committee (PAC), which was formed in 2022 in anticipation of the U. Supreme Court overturning the 1973 Roe v Wade decision and the resulting vulnerability of abortion rights at a state level. Project 50’s mission is to build a state-based political infrastructure in all 50 states to elect state legislators and elected officials who will support and expand abortion healthcare access.

As one of the few states with state-wide elections this year, a lot is at stake for reproductive rights in Virginia. Currently, pro-choice allies in the state legislature control the House of Delegates by just one seat. Preserving this majority is crucial to ensuring that Virginia remains a safe haven for abortion access in the South.

Additionally, Virginia is working to advance a constitutional amendment that would guarantee reproductive freedom. Under state law, constitutional amendments must pass the General Assembly in two separate sessions before they can be placed on the ballot for a public vote. To date, the constitutional amendment has passed once; the second and final passage will only take place after the November election.

This past November, Missouri was the first state to overturn a total abortion ban by passing Amendment 3, which enshrines the right to reproductive healthcare in the state Constitution. Now, extremist lawmakers are doing all they can to overturn the will of the voters by putting a deceptive measure on the ballot to reinstate an abortion ban under the guise of “exceptions.”

Missourians want and deserve reproductive freedom, and they will not allow anti-choice extremists to further strip away reproductive rights. Access MO is doubling down on their work to replace these legislators with ones who will fight to protect their voters' rights. Learn more about and support their work at accessmo.today!
