📊 One of the easiest ways to get fooled by a marketing report is to assume the biggest number is the best number.

People throw around the term “vanity metrics” all the time.

To me, it’s pretty simple.

A number can look awesome on a dashboard and still tell you very little by itself. 🤷‍♂️

Impressions are a perfect example.

If you’re a local business, 100,000 impressions sound great.

❓ But where did they come from?

❓ Can you actually serve those people?

We saw this play out in one of our own case studies.

🤯 International impressions dropped by approximately 80%.

That was intentional.

📍 Meanwhile, total clicks stayed within the normal margin of error, and the percentage of clicks coming from local markets increased from 26.65% to 33.56%.

That’s a 6.91 percentage-point increase in local click share.

That gives the numbers some context.

If I’m looking at that report as a business owner, I’m paying a lot more attention to where the clicks are coming from than whether somebody managed to make the biggest number on the page go up.

⁉️ Do your marketing reports help you understand the numbers, or just show you numbers that look good?

⁉️ If your AI assistant creates another job for you to manage… what exactly did it automate? 👀

AI is supposed to save people time.

But it’s pretty easy to build something that only moves the work somewhere else.

Now somebody has to…

📋 Update a separate tracker
🔁 Re-enter information the business already has
💬 Copy conversations into the AI
🗂️ Maintain duplicate systems
👀 Babysit the “automation” so it keeps working

At some point, you have to ask whether you actually removed any work.

That doesn’t mean every AI workflow should run completely hands-off.

Some legitimately need structured input, review, approvals, or maintenance.

But the math still has to make sense.

Whenever practical, AI should be working with the systems, conversations, documents, and tasks your team is already using.

The goal should be pretty simple:

✅ Less NET administrative work.

Not another dashboard.
Not another spreadsheet.
Not another process your team has to remember to feed.

🤔 Is the AI you’re using actually removing work from your team… or did you just give them another system to maintain?

💸 The price on the invoice is only part of what the work actually costs you.

⁉️ What does the work REALLY cost after your team fixes the errors, manages the rewrites, checks the quality, and makes the finished product usable?

We’ve personally seen articles being sold regularly for $0.49 per word.

And when business owners compare providers, it’s easy to look at the price per article or price per word and assume that tells the whole story.

It doesn’t.

Because if your employees have to spend their time:

❌ Fixing mistakes
📝 Sending revisions back
🔁 Managing repeated rewrites
🔎 Rechecking work that should already be right
⏰ Pulling managers into quality control

That labor belongs in the math too.

We’ve seen this play out firsthand.

One of our published agency case studies documented a previous content operation spending approximately $67,500 per month at $0.09 per word, with a reported 25% error rate and another $3,750 per month in error-management overhead.

That experience helped shape how we built our own service.

At GetLocalLeads.AI, this is done for you.

We handle the research, writing, optimization, publishing, and quality control.

And we stand behind our work with:

✅ 100% indexing guarantee
✅ AI Visibility guarantee

Our pricing is intentionally well below what we regularly see other providers charging.

But I would never describe what we do as cheap.

Our goal is to provide world-class service, exceptional work, and results that overdeliver on the investment, while still offering significantly more value for the money.

And the results matter.

Our case studies aren’t limited to showing…

✅ Our clients averaging a 197% increase in organic traffic. 📈
✅ 1st-page ranking deliverables. 🏆
✅ 1st-place ranking on AI search across all the major platforms. 🥇
✅ Hundreds of thousands of dollars saved with our automations. 💰
✅ Record-breaking monthly and annual revenue. 💵

Saving money doesn’t mean much if your payroll has to finish the job afterward. 👀

📞 You can spend 10+ years teaching your customers ONE phone number…

And still not know who actually controls it. 👀

Think about everywhere your business number may already live:

🌐 Your website
📍 Google Business Profile
🚚 Service vehicles
💳 Business cards
📣 Old advertisements
📋 Customer records
🤝 Referral materials
🔎 Online directories
🪧 Signs and printed materials

Customers learn that number.

They save it…

They share it…

And if you ever decide to change phone systems or providers, that number can suddenly become a pretty important part of the conversation.

Before you need to make that change, it’s worth knowing:

📋 Whose account is the number actually under?

🔐 Who has authority to transfer it?

📲 Can the number be moved to another provider?

🧾 What account information or authorization would be required?

⚙️ What other services or systems are connected to it?

Not every phone number, carrier, provider, or account works the same way.

Portability can depend on the provider, number type, account details, authorization requirements, contracts, geography, and other factors.

This is worth understanding BEFORE the day you need to make a change.

⁉️ If your business changed phone systems tomorrow, do you know exactly what would happen to the number your customers already know?

⚠️ AI can automate a good decision incredibly fast. It can do the same thing with a bad one.

AI can be incredibly powerful… but powerful doesn’t mean unrestricted.

As Uncle Ben says in Spider-Man:

🕷️ “With great power comes great responsibility.”

I think that applies pretty well to AI inside a business too.

One of the smartest places to start with AI may be read-only access.

Let it observe before it acts.

Let it understand:

👀 How the current workflow actually works
📍 Where the source-of-truth information lives
🔗 Which systems depend on other systems
🧠 Where human judgment is currently involved
🚧 What exceptions exist
✅ What’s already working
❌ What’s already broken
⛔ What probably shouldn’t be automated at all

Because giving AI permission to write, edit, send, delete, or automate before it understands the environment can make a bad assumption move a whole lot faster.

🦮 And even after AI earns more access, I still believe it belongs on a short leash with human oversight.

AI can research, analyze, organize, recommend, and execute.

But human expertise should remain at the top of the decision-making hierarchy.

AI should understand the system first. Then over time… we can give it more permission intentionally, monitor what happens, and keep qualified humans responsible for the decisions that actually matter.

🔑 Just because AI CAN take action inside your business doesn’t mean you should hand it the keys.

⁉️ Before you let AI start taking actions inside your business, how much does it actually understand about the business it’s being asked to help run?

⁉️ DOES YOUR MARKETING AGENCY ALSO WORK WITH YOUR DIRECT COMPETITORS? 👀

That doesn’t automatically mean anything is wrong.

But if you’re hiring a marketing or AI visibility agency to help you stand out from your competition, it’s worth understanding how they handle competitive overlap.

Especially when you’re competing for…

📍 The same market
🛠️ The same services
👥 The same customers
💰 The same opportunities

You should know whether they offer exclusivity, how they define a direct competitor, and what happens if one of your competitors calls them tomorrow.

At GetLocalLeads.AI, our approach is one client per agreed market per vertical.

We believe that if a company hires us to help create a competitive advantage, the rules around that advantage should be clear from the beginning.

It’s one of those questions worth asking before you sign the agreement.

⁉️ If your agency also works with the company you’re trying to beat, what specifically protects YOUR competitive advantage?

🥇ONE good ChatGPT answer does NOT prove you’re winning AI search. ❌

We looked back at one of our own case studies.

😕 At baseline, the company had an 18.75% appearance rate and ranked #6 overall in the original testing.

8 weeks later, reporting showed that same company ranking #1 across three separate current report configurations. 📈

We kept testing.

Across multiple AI environments, including:

✅ ChatGPT
✅ Google AI Mode
✅ Gemini
✅ Claude
✅ Perplexity

Because there isn’t one universal “AI ranking.”

Change the platform, question, service, location, competitive set, or context and you may change the answer.

📸 One good screenshot can make you feel pretty good…

But repeated testing gives you evidence.

It helps you understand what’s working, where you’re still falling short, and what needs attention if you want to keep earning those recommendations consistently.

⁉️ Did AI recommend your company consistently… or did somebody stop testing when they got the answer they wanted?

⁉️ If the person designing your website can’t explain WHY your homepage is built the way it is… what exactly are they designing from? 👀

There’s nothing wrong with wanting your website to look great.

It should. 🔥

But a good-looking homepage and a strategic homepage are not always the same thing.

Every major section should have a job.

🤔 Why is this the first thing a visitor sees?

👀 Why does this come before the next section?

💭 What question is this answering?

🚧 What objection is this helping remove?

📲 What action do we want the visitor to take next?

Those are the kinds of questions that should be shaping the page from the beginning.

Because a homepage is not just there to look nice.

It should help move someone from:

“I just found this business…”

to

“I understand them, I trust them, and I know what to do next.”

That’s why great website design should be intentional.

⁉️ If I pointed at each section of your homepage, could somebody clearly explain why it’s there?

📈 AI visibility isn’t a one-and-done report‼️

An audit is incredibly useful.

It tells you where you stand today.

But if you’re working with an agency monthly, there’s another question you should be able to ask…

⁉️ Is this actually getting better?

You should be able to see whether you’re showing up for more of the questions your customers are asking.

📍 Are you gaining visibility in the cities and services that matter to your business?

🧐 Are the same competitors still being recommended instead of you?

And maybe just as important…

Are the improvements holding?

AI recommendations can change depending on the question, location, platform, and context, so there isn’t one permanent “AI ranking” you can check off and forget about.

That’s why testing must continue.

At GetLocalLeads.AI, we consistently retest with our clients.

Not just to help them become more visible…

But to understand what still needs work, whether those gains are holding, and whether that increased visibility is contributing to more traffic, leads, booked jobs, and revenue.

If someone is responsible for improving your AI visibility, ask them this…

⁉️ “What has actually improved since I started paying you?”

If the answer is a list of things they did instead of evidence of what changed, that should tell you something. 👀
