🩻 What does “staging” mean when we're talking about cancer?
If someone is diagnosed with cancer, their healthcare team may need to determine:
🔹 How large is the cancer?
🔹 Where is it located?
🔹 Has it spread to nearby tissues or lymph nodes?
🔹 Has it spread elsewhere in the body?
This process is called staging.
CT scans can be one of the imaging tools used to help physicians understand where cancer is located and whether it may have spread.
Different imaging exams answer different questions—which is why you may see several types of imaging involved in a patient's care.
One scan doesn't tell the whole story. Your care team puts the pieces together. 🧩
🩵 A little community inspiration for your Weekend
If you're looking for something to do in Cheyenne this weekend, the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens' Heirlooms & Blooms Harvest Market is happening Saturday, September 19. 🌻
Supporting local makers, getting outside and spending time with people you love are all pretty good ingredients for a weekend.
And yes—taking care of your health belongs on that list, too. 💙
Sometimes wellness looks like an appointment.
Sometimes it looks like a walk.
Sometimes it looks like laughing with a friend.
Take care of the whole person. ❤️
The Harvest Market is scheduled for September 19 at the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens.

🧡 World Patient Safety Day 🧡
Today is World Patient Safety Day, and this year's theme is “Safe care for life!”
Cancer care can involve many steps—prevention, diagnosis, imaging, treatment and follow-up. Making sure information is accurate, communicated clearly and shared with the right care team is an important part of keeping patients safe.
As patients, one of the most helpful things we can do is ask questions.
❓ What is this test looking for?
❓ Why is it being ordered?
❓ What should I expect?
❓ When and how will I receive my results?
Speaking up isn't being difficult. It's being an active participant in your care. 🧡
WHO's 2026 campaign specifically focuses on safer care for people living with noncommunicable diseases, including cancer.

💙 Prostate Cancer Awareness Week starts today.
This week is a great reminder for the men in our community to have the conversation—even if you feel perfectly healthy.
Prostate cancer doesn't always cause noticeable symptoms in its early stages. That's why talking with your healthcare provider about your age, family history, risk factors and screening options matters.
And if additional evaluation is needed, imaging such as prostate MRI can be an important part of the diagnostic process.
Don't wait for a health concern to become an emergency before you start talking about your health.
Know your risk. Know your options. Know when to ask questions.

🎉 Fun Friday answer!
The answer is…
🥁🥁🥁
B☑️ MRI!
MRI uses a powerful magnetic field and radio waves to create detailed images of soft tissues—including the prostate.
It's very different from an X-ray, which is especially useful for looking at bones and certain other structures.
Did you get it right? 🙌
And if you're heading out to enjoy Cheyenne's Artwalk this weekend, have fun supporting our local artists and creative community! 🎨

🤔 Fun Friday: Can you guess which imaging exam is specifically designed to provide detailed images of the prostate?
A 🔲 X-ray
B️ 🔲 MRI
C️ 🔲 Mammogram
D️ 🔲 Bone Density Scan
Drop your answer below! 👇
We'll reveal the answer tomorrow. 💙
And while you're thinking about it, check out what's happening around Cheyenne tonight—the September 2nd Friday Artwalk is bringing local artists and creative spaces together downtown. 🎨

💙 Labor Day reminder: taking care of yourself is part of the work.
Whether your weekend involves a backyard BBQ 🍔🌭, a long ride, a round of golf, or simply putting your feet up—we hope you get some time to recharge.
And while we're talking about taking care of yourself…
September is also Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.
Prostate cancer is common, and knowing your risk factors can help you have a more informed conversation with your healthcare provider.
Family history and age are important pieces of the conversation. Your healthcare provider can help determine whether screening is appropriate for you and when it should begin.
This month, we're making men's health conversations a little easier. 💙

🩵 Yesterday we asked you to wear teal. Today we're asking: did you know why?
Ovarian cancer awareness is about more than a color.
It's about recognizing symptoms that can be easy to dismiss, understanding your personal and family history, and knowing when it's worth having a conversation with your healthcare provider.
And here's an important distinction:
Pelvic ultrasound can help evaluate symptoms or findings involving the ovaries and pelvis, but it isn't a routine screening test proven to prevent ovarian cancer deaths.
Some symptoms to talk with your healthcare provider about include:
• Persistent bloating
• Pelvic or abdominal pain
• Feeling full quickly
• Changes in urinary habits
Knowledge doesn't mean assuming the worst. It means knowing when to ask questions. 💙

🩵 WEAR TEAL DAY 🩵
Today is Wear Teal Day, a national observance during Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month.
Teal represents courage, strength and hope for people affected by ovarian cancer. 💙
Ovarian cancer can be difficult to recognize because symptoms may be vague and can look like many other conditions.
Some symptoms to talk with your healthcare provider about include:
• Persistent bloating
• Pelvic or abdominal pain
• Feeling full quickly
• Changes in urinary habits
There isn't currently a routine screening test proven to detect ovarian cancer early in people without symptoms. That's one reason awareness of symptoms and risk factors is so important.
🩵 So today, wear teal, share a little knowledge, and check in with someone you love. 🩵
