Local Matters.
When a Cheyenne business calls us, we're not coming into town to photograph a client.
We're photographing a neighbor.
Davissa Photography is a local Cheyenne business, and we're proud of the roots we've put down here. We live here. We work here. We shop in these businesses, attend these community events, support local organizations, and know many of the people behind the signs on the doors.
That connection matters to us.
Whether we're photographing a restaurant's menu, creating new branding images for a local company, covering a corporate event, making professional headshots, or photographing a property that's about to become someone's home, we bring more than cameras with us. We bring an understanding of this community and the people who make it work.
We're invested in seeing local businesses succeed because this isn't simply a market we serve.
It's home.
If your business needs fresh, professional photography, we'd love to sit down over a cup of coffee, learn what you're building, and talk about how we can help you show it well.

There’s a question I’ve learned to ask myself after a lot of years behind a camera:
Does the photograph reveal the subject, or has the photography begun to replace it?
It’s an important distinction.
Good photography certainly involves technique. Light matters. Composition matters. Color matters. Experience matters.
But none of those things should become more important than what was actually in front of the camera.
When I photograph food, I want you to recognize the dish that arrives at your table.
When I photograph a home, I want to present it beautifully without pretending it is something it isn’t.
When I photograph a person, I’m far more interested in finding something genuine about them than imposing my personality upon theirs.
And when I photograph a business, the finished images should feel like that business, not every other business I’ve photographed.
After more than 25 years of doing this professionally, I’ve come to believe that some of the best photography knows when to get out of its own way.
The subject should always be the reason you remember the photograph.

Good real estate photography begins with seeing what is already there.
The light. The space. The details. The character of a home.
Our job isn't to transform a property into something it isn't. It's to recognize what makes it inviting and photograph that well, to show how the rooms connect, how the light moves through the space, and give prospective buyers a genuine sense of the home before they ever walk through the door.
Because beautiful presentation and honest representation aren't competing ideas.
Good real estate photography does both.
Beautifully presented. Honestly represented.

Does food photography have to look perfect?
We don't think so.
It should look good. It should look fresh. It should make you hungry. But most importantly, it should look like something you might actually be served.
That's an important distinction in commercial photography.
Great photography doesn't have to turn a restaurant's food into something it isn't. The better challenge is to recognize what already makes the food appealing, the texture of the bread, fresh greens, color, layers, the way the dish is actually presented, and photograph those things beautifully.
Because when someone sees your photograph, walks into the restaurant, orders that sandwich and recognizes what arrives at the table, something important has happened:
The photograph kept its promise.
That's what authentic commercial photography can do. It creates desire without sacrificing trust.
Real food. Thoughtfully photographed.

Sometimes a commercial photograph has more than one job.
I photographed this several years ago for a cigar company in Tampa. Their primary business was, and needed to remain, fine ci**rs. But at the time, they had also just become the exclusive dealer for Ruffian, a high-end electric bike with distinctive vintage styling.
The assignment wasn't simply to photograph a cigar or a bicycle.
It was to introduce something new without losing sight of what the business was already known for.
So the cigar remained the hero. The Ruffian became part of the environment and quietly introduced the second story.
That's one of the things we love about commercial photography. Before deciding where to put the lights or which lens to use, we need to understand what the photograph needs to communicate.
Sometimes the strongest image doesn't shout everything at once. It simply knows what deserves the viewer's attention first.

A close-up of prime rib has a job to do. So does the photograph of someone bringing it to the table.
One shows the food’s texture and preparation. The other shows hospitality in action. Add cocktails against the warm glow of the bar, and you begin to see the character of the place.
That variety is a deliberate part of commercial photography.
When we plan a restaurant session, we consider the dishes, the service, the surroundings, and how the photographs will be used. A menu feature needs a clear look at the food. A website can introduce the people and atmosphere. A social post can give a familiar customer something new to look forward to.
These three photographs from our work with T‑Joe’s Steakhouse each contribute something different. Together, they give the restaurant more ways to communicate while staying true to the experience it offers.
Here’s a useful way to review your own business photographs: Look at them as a customer. What do they help you understand, and what’s still missing?
That’s a conversation we enjoy having. Tell us what you want people to know about your business, and we’ll help you plan photographs that show it.

Real estate photography should do more than simply make a room appear bright and spacious. It should help prospective buyers understand the home, how the rooms connect, where the natural light enters, and what living there might actually feel like.
As a locally owned Cheyenne photography studio, we understand that homes here are not all the same. From established neighborhoods and older homes with character to new construction and rural properties, each deserves to be photographed with care and represented honestly.
We photograph every property at its best while remaining true to what it is.
Beautifully presented. Honestly represented.

We are often asked, "what Is a Commercial Photographer"?
Most people know what a photographer does, but the term commercial photographer may be less familiar.
Commercial photography is imagery created specifically to help a business communicate, market, and grow. It includes everything from food and hospitality photography to real estate, professional branding, products, architecture, entertainment, marketing, and the people behind a company, brand or label.
Like many professions, photography becomes increasingly specialized through years of experience.
A physician and a cardiothoracic surgeon are both doctors. The surgeon, however, has taken that broad foundation and developed a highly focused understanding of a particular field, its intricate processes, specialized challenges, and desired outcomes.
Photography works in much the same way.
A commercial photographer is still a photographer, but the work requires a deeper understanding of how images function in business. It means considering the client’s industry, intended audience, brand identity, where the photographs will appear, and what those images ultimately need to accomplish.
The process does not begin with picking up a camera. It begins with listening.
What does this business offer?
Who does it serve?
What makes it different?
What should someone understand or feel when they see its images?
Commercial photography also involves something many people may never have considered: proper commercial licensing.
A photograph created for a business must be licensed for its intended commercial use, whether that is a website, social media, advertising, printed materials, signage, or another form of promotion. Clear licensing gives the business documented permission to use the images appropriately and helps protect both the client and the photographer. It is an important part of safeguarding a company’s image, professionalism, and credibility.
Beautiful photographs certainly matter, but in commercial photography, beauty alone is not enough. The images must also be accurate, purposeful, consistent, properly licensed, and created around the specific needs of the client.
That is the specialization.
At Davissa Photography, our job is not simply to photograph what a business has. It is to understand what that business needs to communicate, and then create professional imagery prepared to do that work clearly, honestly, and effectively.

Before a guest tastes the food, they have already made a decision about it.
They saw the photograph.
They noticed the color, the texture, the atmosphere and, almost instantly, decided whether they could imagine themselves sitting at that table.
That is why good food photography must do more than make a plate look impressive. It should create appetite without exaggeration, preserve the character of the restaurant and show guests something they can trust. The goal isn’t to manufacture a fantasy. It is to reveal what is already worth experiencing.
At Davissa Photography, we photograph real food, prepared by real kitchens, with the care and professional experience it deserves. Because when your food carries your name, its image should carry your standards.
If your restaurant or food service company is ready for photography that looks inviting, polished and unmistakably real, we would love to visit with you.

A strong real estate image does more than show a room. It reveals how a home lives.
The graceful archways, original hardwood floors, generous natural light, and easy connection between these gathering spaces speak to the enduring character of this historic home in Cheyenne’s Avenues.
Our approach to real estate photography begins by recognizing what makes each property distinctive. We photograph with care and intention, showing the flow, atmosphere, architectural details, and sense of place that help prospective buyers understand not only what a home looks like, but what it might feel like to live there.
Because effective real estate photography should never misrepresent a property. It should recognize its strengths and present them beautifully.
Beautifully presented. Honestly represented.
Davissa Photography provides professional real estate photography for homes, rental properties, and distinctive spaces throughout Cheyenne, Laramie, and the surrounding area.
