I know I’m not supposed to pick favorites, but this little reading nook in our bedroom is one of my favorite corners of our home 🤎

Touring historical homes is an interior designer’s dream.

I’ve always been such a big lover of traditional design, but house hunting in Upstate New York has truly changed me.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The wide plank scuffed wood floors, the original brick, the crown moulding. Every single was so thoughtfully considered, chosen, and created. You can see the level of craftsmanship and physical labor that went into each detail, and it will never get old.

The little details really matter, and it lights me up seeing all of these homes where their owners clearly felt the same, all those years ago 🥹

So glad I finally listened to my gut and took the jump to color drench our bedroom at the farmhouse 🤎

Art has always been one of the hardest decisions for me when it comes to design.

Sure, you can go to Target and find some beautiful pieces, but at the end of the day, if it doesn’t mean something to you, what’s the point?

I stumbled across these gorgeous little works recently and I couldn’t be more obsessed. Aren’t they so darling?

Growing up, I couldn’t wait to get out and explore the world, live in a city, and just take in all the world has to offer that small town living doesn’t.

But after going to grad school in D.C. and then ending up back on a ranch in Wyoming, I have so much more appreciation for this little oasis tucked away from all the noise 🥹

This year has felt like a whirlwind with everything going on behind the scenes but we officially have some really really exciting news to share with you all so soon… any guesses? 🤭

I have many fond childhood memories of sleepovers with my friends … The late night giggles, board games, cutting out pieces of magazines, I look back on all of it with such joy. So, as I was designing our bonus room space, I knew I wanted to create the same opportunity for our children to make their own memories 🥹

So when I was designing our farmhouse, I knew we needed to have at least a couple wallpaper moments to make it truly feel like home.

Now every time I walk past our powder bath, I have to do a double take because I just love it that much. And spoiler alert: that’s how you should feel about the design of your own home 😉

If my family had to name all of my greatest qualities, I could promise you “patient” wouldn’t be one of them, and our house hunt has reminded me of exactly that 😂

First of all, if you’re new here - don’t worry. Our ranch farmhouse isn’t going anywhere! But I think it’s about time I filled everyone in…

Last year, I absolutely fell in love with Upstate New York. I’d only been a handful of times, but after seeing a few houses in the area on Instagram and doing a bit of research, I started feeling a huge pull to the Hudson Valley.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And if you know absolutely anything about me, it’s that once I have a gut feeling, all bets are off. So, I immediately started dreaming up how Upstate New York could be a part of our story, and… let’s just say I reached out to a realtor and booked a trip shortly after.

I made my way to the area in early fall of last year and I knew there was something there for me. I know, it might sound a little crazy, but if you’ve ever had that gut feeling, you’ll understand. There simply was no ignoring it.

Ever since, we’ve been searching for the perfect historic home. One full of original wood floors and windows, those rustic beams that make your heart flutter, and the kind of land that city-dwellers dream of.

It’s tested my patience, and I’ve had countless “what the heck am I doing?” moments but I know it will all be worth it in the end.
