Late last night, my 18-year-old son reminded me that some of the proudest parenting moments don't happen at graduation ceremonies.
His battery died, and it looks like his alternator may be on its way out too. Instead of panicking, getting frustrated, or calling for a tow, he grabbed a jump pack, hooked jumper cables to it, ran them up to the front of the hood, and figured out a way to get himself home.
Was it a little redneck engineering? Maybe.
Did it work? Absolutely.
As parents, we spend years hoping our kids learn how to handle life's challenges. Then one day they surprise you and show you they can.
Somewhere along the way, this kid who used to run headfirst into challengesβand sometimes create a few extra ones for himselfβlearned how to face a problem, stay calm, and figure it out on his own.
I won't speak for my wife, but I know she sees it too. Watching him grow into a young man who can think through problems and adapt when things don't go as planned makes us incredibly proud.
The car will get fixed.
But seeing the kind of man he's becoming is the part I'll remember. β€οΈ

It's summer break, which means I don't always go into the office when the kids are home. Today was one of those days.
I had been outside for a bit when my daughter told me she wanted a snack. Apparently, she decided I needed one too.
When I came back inside, she had the biggest grin on her face and said:
"Daddy, there's something in your desk. Go look. Now scoot, scoot!"
As she waved both hands at me, shooing me toward my office, I knew she was up to something.
I walked in and found three Double Stuf Oreos stacked neatly on my desk with a blue sticky note beside them.
It read:
"I love you! These oreo's have love in it!
Love, Hadley"
That's it. Three Oreos and a handwritten note from my little girl.
And somehow those three cookies felt more valuable than just about anything else on my desk.
As parents, we spend so much time worrying about whether we're doing enough, working enough, providing enough, being present enough. Then a moment like this sneaks up on you and reminds you what really matters.
One day she won't be waving me into my office with a secret surprise waiting on my desk. One day there won't be little notes with misspelled words and giant hearts drawn across the page.
But today there was.
Today, I got three Oreos filled with love.
I'm not crying, you're crying.
Moments like these remind me how grateful I am to be able to work from home sometimes. The emails, meetings, and deadlines will always be there. The little girl who leaves love notes and cookie towers on my desk won't stay little forever.
Such a sweet girl.
I love you too, Hadley. β€οΈ

π‘ Thinking about selling your home?
One of the questions I get asked most often is:
"What are buyers actually looking for right now?"
Based on feedback from showings across Cheyenne, buyers are consistently prioritizing:
β
Move-in ready condition
β
Clean, fresh-smelling homes
β
Decluttered spaces
β
Functional kitchens
β
Flexible floor plans
β
Usable outdoor living areas
β
Homes priced appropriately for today's market
The good news?
Many of these things are completely within a seller's control before listing.
If you're thinking about selling in the next 6-12 months, making a few strategic improvements now could make a big difference when it's time to hit the market.
Which of these do you think buyers care about most?

π€ Looking for something fun to do in Cheyenne this week?
Comedy That Cares is bringing SNL alum Tim Meadows to the Cheyenne Civic Center on Wednesday, June 10 at 7:00 PM.
Even better? This event supports COMEA, an organization that has been helping Cheyenne residents in need for nearly 60 years.
Comedy That Cares has built a great reputation for bringing nationally recognized comedians to Wyoming while raising money for local nonprofits and charities.
A night of laughs for a great cause is hard to beat.
Have you ever seen Tim Meadows perform live?
