Quebec 01 State Historic Site has been REOPENED today (August 3, 2026) from yesterday's unexpected maintenance issues. 😀

Q01 staff is thankful for your patience through this temporary delay! Give us a call for your free reservation for our Guided Tours: 307-422-3425 (as these 30-minute Tours run daily from 9:30 AM through 4:30 PM). Thanks again, please bring plenty of water to our fairly rural site (that doesn't have drinkable water), and we hope to see you soon!

After yesterday's victory lap, the 130th Cheyenne Frontier Days has officially come to a successful close. Q01 staff hope you had a rootin' tootin' time at the city's namesake rodeo!

Even if the rodeo is over, the summer season for Q01 is still going strong through the end of September! So please stop by if you didn't have the chance during CFD (or if you were hiding out from the crowds), and bring some friends to at ! See you soon!

Quebec 01 State Historic Site is open now through all of CFD: July 17-26, 2026! With the expected increase of daily visitors, here's a few site reminders to help keep the good times going:

🔸 Guided Tours run 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM, and each Tour can only hold 12 visitors (plus the docent), so PLEASE CALL AHEAD (307-422-3425) to reserve your spot for the Tour time you're most interested in. Also, please keep in mind that wait times for Tours are extended for Walk-In tour-takers. Thank you for your patience during our busiest time!
🔸 Please arrive 10-15 minutes ahead of your reserved Tour. Doing so gives you time to get indoors, get checked-in, and to use the restroom after driving to our rural site (as the restroom is not available on the Tour). We also appreciate punctuality to help avoid increased wait times for others, so thank you.
🔸 The site's water is not drinkable, so please bring plenty with you! Cheyenne has been undergoing a true heat wave since last weekend, and hydration is key to preventing heat-related illness (and continuing the CFD fun)!

Combine your site awareness with the historical adventure of our nuclear site, and you've got a wonderful opportunity to share in the living history of Cheyenne this CFD!

And if you're looking for more Cheyenne history to explore, consider a visit to our sister site: Wyoming's Historic Governors' Mansion. The site is located in downtown Cheyenne, will be open all ten days of CFD (9:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily), and the Mansion has FREE admission for you to explore the space that 19 First Families called home (all while time-hopping by each room through the seven decades they lived at the Mansion). Don't hesitate to call Mansion staff at 307-777-7878 with any questions!

As of yesterday (July 10, 2026): happy 136 years of statehood, Wyoming! Internet issues kept this post from being more timely, but read on and flip through these statehood fun facts/pictures, nevertheless!

On July 10, 1890, President Benjamin Harrison signed the act that made Wyoming the 44th state. It is wild to imagine that the U.S. Congress almost rejected Wyoming's statehood due to its support of women's suffrage since the late 1860s! But the "Equality State" is still going strong 136 years later, with many other female milestones since! Included is a collection of state symbols, and some sights of 1890 Cheyenne:

🦬 Francis Emory Warren was in his second term as Territorial Governor when statehood happened, and he only held the role for about six weeks, as he was went on to be elected into the U.S. Senate.

🦬 When statehood took place, the State Capitol was in Phase 2 (of 3) with the initial addition of the east and west wings; notice the dirt main road, the horse-drawn buggy, and the electrical pole on the far right.

🦬 Statehood celebrations with Company K photographed on the Capitol steps (with a wooden panel atop the dirt main road). This group of two dozen (mostly consisting of high-school-aged teenagers) practiced and performed drills with wooden ri**es and Knights-of-Pythias-style swords. They were trained by Colonel Frank Stitzer (pictured in the upper left corner), a Civil War combat veteran. The excellence of their drills and their uniforms were in many newspaper articles (along with their rival, Company H), but it seems both companies disbanded soon after the statehood day celebrations. We hope everyone has a wonderful and safe time celebrating the July 4th holiday AND America's 250th anniversary! Our site will be OPEN throughout the weekend, in case you wanted to come celebrate with us. 😎 Otherwise, here are some awesome and historically patriotic photos to further commemorate, thanks to Wyoming State Archives.

📸 The two photos with line-ups of military men date back to 1898, the year of the Spanish American War (and just eight years after Wyoming became a state)! These men are dressed in full uniform with their ri**es in-hand, marching to the delight of a crowd in front of the Capitol. Oh, how the Capital Square scenery has changed 128 years later!

The history of June 19, 1865 is incredibly important to our nation's history; also known as "Freedom Day" or as "Emancipation Day," it was first celebrated on that date in Texas as part of the 1862 Emancipation Proclamation during our nation's Civil War era (April 1861 - May 1865). Whether or not you include a Q01 visit as part of your holiday weekend, we wish you a happy and meaningful Juneteenth!
