Today May 25 2026 Memorial Day!
05/23/2026
Most have started this weekend like any other relaxing at home or getting in the car for a short getaway. However, this weekend out of the many is a bit more important to veterans and their families. Since its inception in 1868 Memorial Day has been set aside to honor and memorialize the veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. While you are enjoying your BBQ or enjoying the start of summer please take a moment to remember the brave honorable military members of yesterday that have paid the ultimate price for our freedom.
Platte Rivers Veterans Fly Fishing along with others put flags on military graves at Linn Grove Cemetery to honor these military veterans. It’s our honor and duty to remember them in this way.
On Monday, please display your flag at half staff until noon then raise it.
Thank you everyone for honoring fallen veterans on this day of remembrance.
Slow hand salute

If you tie flies or use tungsten beaded nymphs you have heard the price for that metal is going up. Some die hards will buy them anyway. There is a great video from Fly Fish Food that explains this situation going forward. Some options going forward can be many of the following. Buy now and stock up, use brass or nickel beads up a size, use wire as an underbody when possible, or use split shot like a bounce rig. I know tiers and fisherman will endure and come up with inventive ways to over come and adapt.

After a much needed snow storm in the mountains we have a bit more water to add to the run off. I’m sure the flows are up a little and maybe a little cloudy. Fish those dark nymphs. The hatches should come back with a vengeance. It’s the right time of the year for the Mother’s Day caddis. Go fishing! ‼️
