We are calling for justice for Retshepile “Tshepi” Tshedu. This is about a little girl whose case has left Botswana with painful questions, deep anger, and a demand for truth and accountability. It matters because when a child’s life is lost and justice feels delayed, every family is forced to ask whether their own child is truly safe. We will not let her name fade into silence. Justice for Tshepi.
In the same city, at the same time, three school girls are being abused – but only one of them knows it.
Lerato has the Clause and Effect book, but she’s too scared to open it. The nightmares have started, but she’s still convincing herself it’s “normal love.”
Bonolo doesn’t even know the book exists. She’s accepted her fate, telling herself, “Maybe this is what love looks like,” because no one ever taught her otherwise.
Rachel heard about Clause and Effect from a friend, went looking for the book, and actually read the “Abuse Awareness” page. In those few lines she recognised her own story – the red flags, the control, the fear. And she chose one of the actions the book advises:
**“Talk to a trusted adult: Confide in a school counselor, teacher, parent, or a relative immediately.”
Same world. Same kind of abuse. Three very different outcomes – all depending on whether a girl knows her rights.
Clause and Effect – A–Z Rights Clinic-in-a-Box exists so that no Lerato, Bonolo or Rachel has to suffer in silence again. It turns child-protection law into lessons, stories, games and tools that help learners spot abuse early, know their rights and ask for help.
For now, the physical books are available in Botswana only, but we’re working to make them accessible to schools, NGOs and families in other countries soon.
If this moved you, please share it with a parent, teacher or young person. Let’s make sure every child knows:
Abuse is not love. Speak up, stand tall.

For years this project has been shaped to answer one simple question: “What if every learner in Botswana actually knew their rights – and had the courage and tools to act on them?”
Clause and Effect – A–Z Rights Clinic-in-a-Box is a full toolkit for schools:
• Teacher Manual – step-by-step guides to lead honest, safe conversations about rights, responsibilities and protection.
• My Rights Clinic Workbook – a personal space for learners to reflect, learn and apply the law to real situations in their lives.
• Clinic Games (Card Edition) – interactive games that turn tough topics into engaging, memorable learning.
We cover everyday issues our young people are facing right now – from Abuse & GBV, Bullying, Cyber Safety and Depression to Exam Stress, Financial Fitness, Gender Respect, Healthy Relationships & Consent, and many more from A–Z.
Our vision is simple: safer schools, informed learners, and confident adults who know how to protect them.
Starting in Botswana, building for the world. 🌍
If you’re a school, parent, guidance counsellor, church or youth organisation and would like to bring Clause and Effect to your learners, please message this page – let’s talk about how we can partner.
