Today April 30th, marks 51 years since the fall of Fall of Saigon and the beginning of a journey that changed everything for our family.

I think about what it must have taken to leave everything behind.
Familiar ground. Language. Stability. Identity.

To step into uncertainty with no guarantees.
Only belief.

That decision shaped the course of my life and my brother’s life in ways that are hard to fully articulate.

Because of that courage, we were given something not everyone gets by default.
Opportunity. Freedom. The ability to choose our path.

The American way is not just an idea in our household. It is something that was earned through risk, sacrifice, and conviction.

Grateful for the example.
Grateful for the standard it set.
Grateful for the responsibility that comes with it.
