Yes! Here’s why: it can greatly increase your chances of growing mold on your mattress.

In fact, if you’re making any of these 3 mistakes in your bedroom routine  it will likely create more than just an unhealthy bedroom, but potentially an ER visit if things go very wrong. 🏥 

❌ Mistake 1: Making Your Bed Right Away: Regardless of what productivity gurus say, this hack is better for your bed! Making your bed immediately traps moisture from night sweats and creates a humid environment (50% humidity is all it takes for mold to grow). Mold feeds on dead skin, dust mites, and other organic material, so trapping it under the covers is exactly what mold needs to grow - a dark and humid place. 
✅ Solution: Take a note from the lazy morning peeps, and don’t make your bed for a few hours—let it air out! 

❌ Mistake 2: Not Letting Sunshine Hit Your Bed: Sunlight dries out your mattress, kills dust mites, and even wipes out mold if enough light hits your bed. 
✅ Solution: Open your blinds or curtains if your bedroom has a window, and that morning sun helps detox your bed. You can also strip the bed on your weekly sheet and bedding clean/change days, let the sun hit your mattress directly, and then vacuum it before remaking the bed in the evening for good measure. 

❌ Mistake 3: Improper Use of Cooling Sleep Systems: ChiliPads like what I have on my bed or similar cooling systems can grow mold if set too cold for too long, creating condensation and humidity on your mattress and therefore a potential mold and mildew mess!
✅ Solution: Use them properly to avoid mold (and a potential hospital visit).
