As President of HDA, Jack’s leadership helps shape everything from programming and conceptual design to project strategy and long-term vision. With more than 50 years of experience spanning office, beverage, interiors, multi-family, hospitality, retail, commercial, and distribution projects, he’s seen a thing or two over the years.

And if you’ve ever stepped into his office, you know two things are true:

Jack loves a hard copy.
Jack believes you never know when you might need something again.

Every stack of papers, marked-up drawing, old project file, and handwritten note tells part of the story. To some, it may look like organized chaos. To Jack, it’s decades of knowledge, lessons learned, and ideas waiting to be revisited.

Because when you've spent a lifetime building great projects, you learn that sometimes the best resource is the one you saved years ago.

Located in the heart of Cherry Creek, Salt Water Social transformed a vacant restaurant space into a 7,000-square-foot upscale seafood restaurant and nightlife experience. Designed in collaboration with The ONE Group and Empire Construction, the project blends bold architecture, artistic detailing, and vibrant social spaces to create a destination that evolves from elevated dining to late-night energy.

At HDA, there's nothing more rewarding than seeing a concept move beyond the rendering and become a place where people gather, celebrate, and create memories.

Some people’s desks tell you exactly how their brains work.

As Senior Principal of Business Development, Pat’s days are filled with strategic partnerships, project pursuits, marketing initiatives, client relationships, revenue growth, and about a hundred moving pieces in between. But somehow, in the middle of all of it, his desk stays the same way he approaches business: intentional, organized, and ready for what’s next.

Because behind every project win, market expansion, and new opportunity is a process built on consistency, preparation, and decades of experience.

Turns out, the calm in the chaos starts at the desk.

From rendering to reality.

What started as a vision is now a 114,295 SF state-of-the-art beverage distribution facility built to support Summit Beverage’s continued growth in Missoula, Montana.

Designed by HDA, the facility seamlessly combines a 20,600 SF office space with a 93,695 SF warehouse—balancing operational efficiency with thoughtful, modern design tailored specifically to the beverage industry.

This project was built through collaboration, problem-solving, and a shared commitment to getting every detail right. We’re proud to have partnered with Summit Beverage to bring this vision to life and create a facility designed to support both their operations and long-term goals for years to come.

What I Learned This Week.

During a storm, water has a funny way of finding the weakest spot. Apparently, basements are no exception.

Last week’s storms in St. Louis taught Jim two things:

1. Water absolutely flows downhill.
2. Homeownership builds character whether you asked for it or not.

But honestly? There’s probably something deeper in there too. Life has a way of exposing the cracks we didn’t know needed attention. Sometimes it’s frustrating. Sometimes expensive. Sometimes it leaves you standing ankle-deep questioning every decision you’ve ever made.

And sometimes… it’s just a reminder that we can’t control the storms, only how we prepare, respond, and rebuild afterward.

Also, maybe check your sump pump.

This Memorial Day, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women whose sacrifice made our freedoms possible.

At HDA, we believe every great future starts with a vision—and because of those who served, we have the freedom to build, create, lead, and dream boldly.

Today, we remember the heroes who gave everything so others could keep moving forward.

What began as a dated Mediterranean-style building is now a bold, contemporary dining destination. In collaboration with The ONE Group, HDA transformed Kona Grill in Tigard, Oregon through a full interior and exterior renovation designed to elevate both the guest experience and the brand itself.

From the elevated steel-framed patio addition to the deep blue tiled façade, custom wine displays, and cloud-inspired ceiling features, every detail was carefully crafted to create a space that feels modern, vibrant, and seamlessly connected to its surroundings.

Projects like this are a reminder that great design isn’t just about aesthetics. It’s about reimagining potential and bringing new life to existing spaces.
