I stopped by and grabbed more ginger from Nieto Family Farm yesterday. I have two grow bags established from the starts I’d already gotten, and with this I should have an adequate supply to last awhile. My hope is to keep a dedicated ginger bed going. We’ll see how that goes. 🤪

Fireflies are really enjoying the sunchokes bed. I’d never noticed them on these before, but love that they are!
We’ve seen a lot more fireflies this year than we normally do. I’m not sure what has caused there to be fewer the last few years in our field or what conditions have changed this year to contribute to their being more. I wish I did so we could replicate it!
Woven bacon is the best way to provide the ideal bacon/bread/veggie ratio on a BLT. If you like 🥓 and haven’t tried it, you should!
The babies are growing fast! We hear them chirping sometimes and when they do their mom screams to try to cover up their noises. It’s quite precious!
It’s been fun watching them grow so far. 🤞🏽they continue to stay safe!

The rain from the tropical depression made the run icky enough to motivate me to move the Eglu today. This really is a handy coop. I could never afford a NEW Eglu Omlet, but this secondhand one has been such a lifesaver so many times!
But if you’re looking for a simple and easy to clean set up and can/don’t mind spending on it, check out Eglu coops.

There’s a new volunteer pumpkin in one of my raised beds. My husband is going to love me letting them run everywhere. 🤪

This comfrey had me worried, but it’s finally putting out some new growth. I planted it just as the heat got out of control so it’s no wonder it struggled!
This has been a weird year. I’m hearing from people who’ve already thrown in the towel on their gardens after replanting due to late freezes and then losing those plants to the scorching heat. I get it! There will always be challenges, weather conditions being a big one, but there’s always something that it’s not too late to plant. We’re all in this together!
Grady came up to the front yard to check for snacks. He was not disappointed.
He can sniff down spilled feed better than any animal I’ve ever seen! 😂
These babies are growing so fast! They already have visible pin feathers!
You can hear the mom chirping in the background at our cat who was considering walking that way. He’s only out with us so he’s not a danger to them, but she was prepared to dive attack him just in case. 🤪
🤞🏽these babies will be okay with the rain coming!
The heat is no joke these last couple of weeks, and the added stress of molting isn’t helping this poor girl.
I’ll be moving the pen this evening onto some tall grass/weeds so that transpiration will help keep them cooler. The grass doesn’t last long in this heat and drought!
