Some great tips!

ORGANIZED KITCHENS MAKE FALL ROUTINES EASIER!

Fall has returned and most of us are also returning to a more regular schedule. Here are some great tips for getting your kitchen fall-ready.

Create a list of easy, anytime, go-to dinners and keep it visible to help you answer the “What’s for dinner?” question. Also, get out that crock pot for those football practice and piano lesson nights!

Now is a great time to assess your kitchens’ storage locations. Organizing your ingredients by category and into stations can help make cooking a joy and a breeze. Store appliances and rarely used items on the top shelf of your pantry so they are out of the way. Create labels so everyone knows where to put items when they are done using them. Lazy Susans are great for preventing items from getting shoved to the back and forgotten. There are even two-tier Lazy Susans that make good use of vertical space. Writing concealed expiration dates on the front of product packaging can help you keep the older items in the front so that you use them first.

Also, storing select items where kids have easy access increases their independence and allows them to be helpful with household chores! For example, they can make their own lunches, prepare their own snacks, help chop veggies and set the table for dinner! Equip your kiddos by establishing a communal snack or lunch-packing station with a variety of healthy and colorful options and all the supplies needed to accomplish these tasks.

If you don’t already have food storage you love, it may also be time to invest in some! Mason jars are one great option, but clear, stackable plastic or glass units that nestle are fabulous options as well. I love decanting commercialized items. Taping cooking instructions to jars works well for me!

Finally, you may want to consider designating an area of your kitchen for homework supplies. If drawer and cupboard spaces are at a premium, bring in small cubbies or a wheeled cart equipped with various caddies or bins.

Happy fall! Here’s to a smooth start for all of you! Feel free to drop your best tips for fall routines on the comment section!
