The second half of our first day, we talked about it being America's 250th birthday. Each of the kiddos got their own flag, and we said the Pledge of Allegiance, which we'll do all week πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Didn't they do a great job on their flags πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

We read another book about a dinosaur going to camp, and the kiddos got to 'dig, and unearth' n new book for their personal library πŸ“š

We also had a friend from Change, Inc here to pass out information to our parents, as they dropped the kiddos off.

The kiddos finished off their day by working on bookmarks, and some quiet reading, while they waited for their parents to pick em up ☺️

And just like that ... Day 1 of SUMMER READING CAMP is in the books. And we're off to another great year πŸ˜ƒ

Penelope the Dinosaur met the kiddos as they came in the front door πŸ¦– but she didn't eat her new friends, like she did in the book we read, We Don't Eat Our Classmates.

Miss Kaylie took the Campers to the back, where they began coloring their tote bags, and working in the booklet Miss Esther put together for them. They quickly found their Dino Bracelets and Beads to Read charts.

During carpet time, the kiddos got to introduce themselves, before we read our story, and we talked about doing things for the first time. Did it make us scared, nervous, excited, happy ? We all loved the story, and learned that we should treat others the way we want to be treated.

We moved to our tables and worked to make a fossil. The kiddos used dino skeletons and leaves. I think they turned out really well. We're gonna let em dry, and they'll be able to take em home by the end of the week.

Back to the carpet, where miss Lindsey played Mad Libs with the kiddos. For some of them, it was their first time playing, and they giggled at the story as it was being told πŸ˜…

Enjoy the pics from the first half of the day. Then come on back in a bit, and see how we finished our first day of camp πŸ¦–

Yes, it might be raining today, but that's not gonna damper our FUN for SUMMER READING CAMP πŸ¦–πŸ¦–πŸ¦–

Parents, remember to come in with your kiddo(s) at drop off, to sign their registration form. Then we'll see ya two hours later ☺️
