Idiosyncratic guitars James "Blood" Ulmer leaves the planet. I haven't seen him in a while but caught him many times in the 70s and 80s playing with Ornette Coleman's Prime Time and with his own bands. He was riveting and challenging, earthy and abstract all at once. He was 86. He's not an Echoes artist by a long stretch. But I wanted to share it with you.
