A line of severe storms is currently tracking east towards northeast Georgia and the southern North Carolina mountains. Activity may weaken as it pushes into the GSP forecast area so confidence on the severe threat remains low.

Isolated strong to severe storms are possible through early evening, especially across the North Carolina Foothills & Piedmont. Another line is expected late this evening into tonight. Confidence on the severe threat with the second line is lower at this time.

Timing for severe storms continues to trend later into the night. Activity may linger through the early overnight hours. Damaging wind gusts are the main hazard.

Thunderstorms with locally heavy rainfall could produce isolated flash flooding Monday afternoon and evening.

When thunder roars, go indoors! Lightning can strike from miles away, even if it isn't raining yet. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck. Don't wait, find a sturdy building or a hard-topped vehicle immediately.

The slight risk for severe weather on Monday was expanded across nearly the entire GSP forecast area. Damaging winds are still expected to be the main hazard Monday afternoon into late Monday evening.

Thunderstorms expected to return on Monday afternoon, with at least a few strong to severe storms likely. With any severe storms that develop, the main hazard will be damaging winds.
