The Leather Shack is owned and operated by Alvin and Lynn Beaver. Alvin has been making leather belts since 1973. He and his father Jack Beaver brought their skills to Cherokee in 1975. Today the family business is still making the finest, handcrafted leather goods in Cherokee.

It is with a heavy heart that we share that Unto These Hills will not be take place this season. The board and staff that produces the beloved outdoor drama has determined that producing the play places too much of a risk for the company members, community, and patrons.

On the bright side...The Oconaluftee Indian Village WILL open in June. Stay tuned for the dates in a future opening announcement.

GSMNP officials announced that all park areas, except the Foothills Parkway and the Spur, will close at noon on Tuesday, March 24 through Monday, April 6, in a continuing effort to support federal, state, and local efforts to slow the spread of COVID-19.
The park will continue to assess changing conditions in the region and work with local communities to extend or terminate closures, as appropriate to ensure the health and safety of visitors, employees, volunteers, partners, and local residents.
