We're proud to honor the late great Cherokee artist, Paul Hornbuckle, as part of an exhibition at the Bascom Center for the Visual Arts in Highlands, NC
Paul started self-teaching himself to carve at 23 years old. He bought a set of 3 antique chisels made in 1832 that he used throughout his career. All of his carving and detailing was done by hand without power tools with fallen trees from around the Cherokee reservation. Paul passed away unexpectedly in February of this year. He was 67 years old.
