Most modern engines use hydraulic valve lifters (little oil-filled “shock absorbers” for the valves). Overnight, the oil drains out of them. When the engine is stone-cold, the oil is thick and slow to pump up to the top of the engine. The lifters collapse slightly and rattle/tick until full oil pressure fills them again. Once that happens, the noise disappears.

This is super common in Chevy, Ford, Toyota, Honda, BMW, and many other engines, especially if the car has sat overnight or you’re using thicker oil than the manufacturer recommends.
